Moustiers: a standout dessert café in Bangbae, Seoul (macarons & signature cake)

Moustiers is a French-style dessert café near Bangbae Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where the pastries genuinely look a cut above — from rows of jewel-bright macarons to the signature Moustiers Seoul cake. If you care about beautiful, well-made desserts, this is an easy recommendation.
Where it is
Moustiers sits near Bangbae Station in Seocho-gu, an easy stop if you also use Naebang Station. I found it by chance while meeting a friend nearby, debating whether to look for good coffee or good dessert — and the look of the desserts here settled it. There are about four or five tables. It is not a café that pulls you in with elaborate interiors, but it is more than enough for a relaxed chat with friends.
What to order
The moment you walk in you see the cookies and cakes on display: Frésier, Forêt-Noire, Mille-Feuille, Moustiers Seoul, and an oolong tart. I had my heart set on the Frésier, but it was already sold out. The Moustiers Seoul is clearly the house signature, so that is what we ordered — and a signature rarely disappoints.
It is made with pecan, cinnamon and roasted brown rice. The fried rice and pecans give a crisp, nutty crunch, while the cream inside is soft, rich and nutty-sweet. Together it tastes like a Western dessert with an unexpected Eastern note — a real East-meets-West harmony, and seriously delicious.
For drinks we ordered an iced americano and an iced Rooibos Vanilla tea. I had low expectations for the drinks at a dessert-focused café, but the tea was wonderful — brewed fresh and served over ice with the aroma fully intact. One sip and my eyes went wide. It is rare to find a café that isn’t tea-focused do iced tea this well.
So of course we couldn’t stop at one dessert. We added two macarons — pistache (pistachio) and chocolat vanille. The pistache showed real chunks of pistachio, and the chocolat vanille balanced vanilla and chocolate nicely. Both were good, but my friend and I agreed the pistache was the winner. They were so good we took more home to go.
The vibe
Small and unfussy, but comfortable — a place built around the quality of the desserts rather than the decor. Truly good dessert is a pleasure for the eyes as much as the mouth, and the colorful macarons and shell-shaped madeleines deliver on both. They also offer gift packaging, which would make a lovely present. There was a photo-review event running, too — leave a review and you get a free baked good.
Verdict
A rare chance to eat genuinely high-quality dessert. The signature Moustiers Seoul cake, the macarons (go pistache), and even the iced tea all impressed. If you are after a serious dessert café near Bangbae in Seocho-gu, Moustiers is well worth the trip.
