RUF RUF: the crumble cheesecake café everyone's talking about in Seongsu, Seoul

RUF RUF (러프러프) is a 4th-floor cheesecake café in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, with a huge range of crumble cheesecakes and a bright, plant-filled, photo-worthy interior — the cake is genuinely outstanding, and I’d happily go back. If you want a relaxed, beautiful dessert stop in Seongsu, this is an easy recommendation.

Where it is

RUF RUF is in Seongsu-dong, at 81 Yeonmujang-gil, Seongdong-gu (Unit 401). The signboard out front is small, so it’s easy to walk past at first. Look for the standing promo board on the street and the mouthwatering cheesecake posters by the entrance — once you spot them, don’t hesitate, just head straight up to the 4th floor. Pretty cake posters line the stairwell, so the climb is part of the fun. It’s a high floor, but the moment you open the door any doubt disappears: wide windows, greenery, and a genuinely lovely, atmospheric space.

Opening hours

Open daily 11:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 21:30. Hours may change, so it’s worth checking before you visit.

What to order

This is a place that takes cheesecake seriously, and there are an astonishing number of flavors. Helpfully, the menu marks the sweetness level of each one, which makes choosing much easier. The lineup includes strawberry crumble (the signature), black sesame, corn, Valrhona chocolate chip, honey sweet potato, matcha pistachio, and salty caramel. After a long deliberation in front of the showcase, I went with the apple cinnamon crumble cheesecake, plus an iced café latte and a lotus-leaf tea.

The lotus-leaf tea was a first for me at a café — gentle and nutty, and it paired surprisingly well with the cake. A nice touch: the iced drinks come with crushed ice, which made everything taste and feel even cooler. The cheesecake won me over on looks alone, but the first bite was a genuine surprise — better than I’d hoped. It isn’t too sweet, the apple jam and cheesecake work beautifully together, and the cheesecake’s own flavor still comes through fully. Pieces of apple burst with sweet juice as you bite in, and the crisp, nutty crumble on top just makes you happy.

The vibe

The café is spacious, with large comfy sofas and tables set far enough apart that you can chat without minding the next table. The music selection was completely my taste, too. There are several photo spots: a chair I found adorable, a rotating-object table that would be perfect for a date, and an Apple-monitor mirror that reflects you with a little heart floating over your head — people stop to take photos there. I took one with my companion and it came out so well it went straight to my Instagram story.

Verdict

Pretty interior, lots of space, and above all, cake that is overwhelmingly good — my desire to return is 200%. A dessert-loving friend with high standards recommended it, and even with my recently lowered expectations for cheesecake, this delivered the real thing. If you want to enjoy a relaxed, delicious dessert in Seongsu, RUF RUF comes highly recommended. You won’t regret it — I already want to go back and try another flavor.
