Osteria Nap: a wood-fired Italian restaurant near Naebang Station (Seocho, Seoul)

Osteria Nap is a small, calm Italian restaurant near Naebang Station in Seocho, Seoul, where an open kitchen and a striking wood-fired oven turn out excellent pizza and pasta. If a glimpse of that oven from the street is enough to pull you in, the food more than lives up to the first impression.
Where it is
Osteria Nap sits near Naebang Station in Seocho-gu, at 8, Seocho-daero 27-gil (1st floor). I first noticed it while wandering the neighborhood — the kitchen is fully visible from outside, and that wood-fired oven left such an impression that I made a point of coming back. Since reviews mentioned occasional waits, I booked a 6:30 pm table through Naver to be safe.
The vibe
There are about six tables, which the staff combine and separate as needed, so even a party of six fits comfortably. It is not a big place, but the tables are spaced well and the mood is calm rather than noisy — an easy room to settle into and enjoy a long meal. The real showpiece is the oven: I had never seen a full wood-fired oven this close, its surface tiled in tight little black squares, and it gives the room a character all its own. The open kitchen sits right beside the tables, and seeing it laid out so openly actually keeps the small space from feeling cramped. Whoever designed the interior did it well.
What to order
We ordered the Bello pizza, the Gamberi Morbido pasta, a glass of red wine and a Menabrea beer. Menabrea, a beer from northern Italy, was new to me — light, very clean, and clearly chosen to suit the food; it pairs far better with Italian-style pizza than with a heavier American one. The glass of red went down easily with everything too.
The Gamberi Morbido is the dish most people seem to order, and the round rigatoni looked wonderful. Plump shrimp give it a real seafood flavor, and the smooth cream carries a gentle warmth of spice. The menu marks it as spicy, but it is not hot at all — just a pleasant accent. Even the spice-averse member of our group loved it.
The Bello pizza is one of the menu’s recommended picks, and I was curious about the spinach-and-mushroom combination. The truffle aroma comes through clearly, the spinach and mushroom taste fresh, and because it is baked in the wood-fired oven the crust itself is genuinely delicious. Dipping the crust into the leftover pasta sauce was unreasonably good — and the sauce was generous enough to scrape the plate clean.
Verdict
A small restaurant, but a calm, well-judged one with genuinely good food. I will be back to try more of the menu. If you are looking for a relaxed Italian dinner or date spot near Naebang Station in Seocho, Osteria Nap is the real deal — small but seriously worth it.
