Heavy Steak Seongsu: a 420g steak for under 50,000 won in Seoul

Heavy Steak in Seongsu is a value-for-money steak spot famous for piling on the meat — a 420g steak for two people that comes in under 50,000 won total. If you care more about the amount of meat and the price than the atmosphere, this is an easy yes.
Where it is
Heavy Steak Seongsu (헤비스테이크 성수점) sits at 38 Yeonmujang-gil, Seongdong-gu, an easy walk through Seongsu-dong. It is the kind of place you notice while walking by, and there is almost always a line at mealtimes. We arrived on a weekday around 5:30 PM and, luckily, were seated right away with no wait.
Opening hours
Open daily 11:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:30.
The space and how to order
Seating is the bar-table (dachi) style you often see in Japanese restaurants. The inside is not large and the tables are not big, but given how cheap the steak is, the cozy size makes complete sense. Each seat has its own kiosk, so ordering is quick and easy. The menu is genuinely varied — beef tongue (toshisal), seasoned steaks, cheese hamburg steak, beef steak with cheese, and rice-bowl options for a one-dish meal. You can also add sides like sausage, grilled pineapple, and sweet-potato salad.
What to order
We went for the Heavy Mania steak and chose the Heavy option, which serves 420g of steak, plus a cheese bulgogi rice bowl that comes with kimchi fried rice. When you sit down, a free pre-meal soup arrives — exactly that nostalgic, comforting “Ottogi soup” flavor (a refill costs 500 won extra).
The steak arrives topped with butter, sauteed onions, garlic flakes, stir-fried kimchi, and corn, with a generous bowl of white rice on the side. The chunks are stacked layer upon layer — that is how much meat you get. The doneness is not perfectly even, but for a value steak house that is more than fair; if a piece is not to your liking, just sear it a little more on the hot plate. The salt, pepper, mustard, wasabi, and the house special sauce are all on the table, so you can mix to taste.
The cheese bulgogi bowl is kimchi fried rice with corn, bulgogi, and cheese melting in real time. The bulgogi itself is familiar and ordinary, but if you love kimchi fried rice and cheese it is worth a try.
The best trick
There is a guide on the table for eating it better. At the end, follow the K-style tip and stir your rice right into the sauce and toppings left on the hot plate — savory, a little salty, and genuinely addictive. You will keep going back for more.
Verdict
Two people, plenty of meat, and a bill under 50,000 won — the value is the real deal. Recommended if you think “amount of meat and price matter more than atmosphere.” If you dislike tight, busy spaces, though, Seongsu has plenty of nicer rooms to choose from.
